Industry Seminar Dinner

28th September, 2000

This evening has been a success and I thank all of you for your attendance. This will be the first of many, to allow members of our profession to meet and be presented with the ever changing technology. I again thank Jack Crawford, and a special thank you to Enware, Key Plastics, Copper Stopper and Grahame Cooks Plumbing Supplies.

Ladies and gentlemen, I mentioned earlier, the assumed historical beginnings of plumbing and the advancement in technology. The community will accept a lowering of standards, if governments, of any persuasion, convince them that they will save money. We have to be vigilant to maintain and raise, if possible, the standards, as we are the guardians of health in this great country.

Never underestimate your worth to the community. There is the story of an old Chinese man, who worked most of his life building a bridge and was an inspiration to all who passed by, through his diligence and dedication. A passerby said to him "Old man you are a fool, by the time you have finished you will be too old to use it".

The old man replied "I do not build it for myself, but for a younger man who will come after me and if I can inspire him and make his path easier, then my work will not be in vain". We are the industry, lets ensure that we set the standard.
