Introduction
Paul Funnell




Paul was raised in Camden New South Wales, Australia. A small country town south-west of Sydney. He completed his Plumbing Trade course in 1969 graduating from Liverpool Technical and Further Education College. In 1972 he relocated to Queensland where he studied Advanced Trade Courses and Business Management.

In 1982 Paul was appointed to the part-time lecturing staff at the Queensland University of Technology in Engineering Services, a position held until May 1996, when he retired to pursue Estimating Seminars in the USA, UK and Canada as well as computer software technology. for the building industry.

Also, in 1982 he commenced his own Business in Engineering Design of Plumbing, Draining and Fire Fighting Services for residential, commercial, high rise building and tourist developments. The business trades as Funnell Hydraulic Consultants. It recently celebrated it's 20th year in business at which time Paul called it a day, he now concentrates on Cavalier Software and the international expansion.

Paul is the Author of the Reference/Textbook "ESTIMATING FOR PLUMBERS" launched in Australia in 1992, the USA Version will be launched in September 2000, the UK, Canada versions will follow in May 2001. The book sold more copies in its first two years than any other technical textbook in Australia.

In 1991, Paul founded ANTELOPE PUBLISHING for the purpose of publishing Technical/Education books. He is now the owner of Cavalier Software.

  • Past President of the Institute of Plumbing Australia (3 years)
  • Federal Councillor for the Institute of Plumbing (6 years)
  • Brisbane River and Tourism Committee member
  • Speaker at the First World Plumbing Conference in Sydney 1985, "THE PLUMBER AND THE PROFESSION"
  • Speaker at the "International Plumbing Conference" Perth 1996, "RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL TRADE BUSINESS"
  • Speaker at the World Plumbing Conference-IV in Chicago 1996, "THE KEY TO SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT"
