How old are you? REALLY? That old? Hmmmm. Are you forgetting things…like picking up the dry cleaning? Meeting with your new customer? Your kid’s soccer game?

How about your name and address? No? Good – you’re not that old…yet.

Well, forgetting things isn’t necessarily a function of age. It is definitely a function of a too-busy life! With so much to do, it’s natural to forget something.

My advice to is don’t waste your brain trying to remember things. Reserve your brain for thinking and creating. And use a day planner to keep track of what you need to do and where you need to be.

Are you afraid you’ll look like a "yuppie" with a day planner? (It’s bad enough that you are driving a mini-van!) Well, get over it. Because without a day planner you are going to look really stupid. Picture yourself trying to smooth over your customer, or your kid, after you’ve forgotten them.

Check out www.franklincovey.com". Sign up for one of their classes. The class includes a first-class day planner, and teaches you how to use it. Then, make using the planner a habit by keeping it with you…always.

The biggest benefit of using a day planner is peace of mind. If you write down appointments, expenses, contact information, shopping lists, action lists for projects, well, then you don’t have to keep them rattling around in your brain. You just need to look at the planner everyday, and do what needs to be done, and go where you need to go. Like to your kid’s soccer game. When your plans are written down, you can keep your brain free for the fun stuff. Like really listening when your kid tells you how it felt to score the big goal.

Be sure to write your name and address in your day planner. Someday, you just might forget those too!

Come to think of it, you better make sure that you have a solid chunk of money set aside for retirement. Learn how to create a selling price that will deliver plenty of money…for now and later…in my terrific book, "How Much Should I Charge?" You are worth it!
