Large or small, the time is right for you to have a presence on the ubiquitous World Wide Web.
It's very likely that you have "web space" available to you already and the tools for building pages are getting simple to use.
I'll give you a few "how to" ideas, the point I want to make is " get on the web."
I'm not talking about building some super site with fancy "flash" aplets and complicated graphics. These features are nice, when used properly, but unless you have the programming horsepower ( horsepower = $$$ ) you'll find yourself being a slave to your advertising tool. A simple web page gives you a place to tell a little more about your company. You can tell your story, tell about your workmanship, and ( VERY IMPORTANT ) you can include customer testimonials so that others can tell about their experience with you.

The question I sometimes hear is " I don't do business in lower Transylvania so why do I need to be on something that goes to everyone in the world?" ( ok, so maybe it isn't always worded just like that but you get the point. :o)
Here's my answer: The whole world is merely a "bonus." For most service businesses, you don't even need to think about using the web as a place to find you. Just use it as a way to expand your current advertising message. For instance, if you advertise in a newspaper or yellow pages, include your web address in the ad. Now, if people have more questions than what you answered in the ad, they have a place to look. Having your web address on your business card should be a high priority as well. You sure can't tell much on a business card but with a web address, your customer can find out all you care to tell them.
In other words, your web site is merely an extension of whatever you use for advertising. It is not a replacement for conventional ad methods.
