Thanks for your help. I couldn't figure out how to follow-up your message, so am posting a new one. We have a "temporary" (we hope) patch on, and will get the slip couplings tomorrow (nothing is open today) and do it your way. One more question . . . when soldering the joints, I can only get to part of the pipe. Will the solder wire run around and seal the part of the seam I can't reach?
