Posted by Brad Bazzell on November 28, 1998 at 00:21:51: From: Maryland I would like to connect my washing machine directly the sewer line in my house. My washing machine is located in the basement. It currently drains into a utility tub, the utility tub drains into the sump pump and the sump pump drains into a 1 1/2" copper drain line that is connected to the main sewer drain line for the house. The main sewer drain exit for the house is located 4' up from the basement floor on the same wall as the washing machine. How high can a typical washing machine pump water? Are there backflow valves that can be used to tie the washing machine directly into the sewer line without using a trap? Thanks, Brad Bazzell
