They usually have a screw into the floor and two into the wall. Since the drain position is very rigidly defined by the pedestal, an "S" trap may not fit. You will have to lay out the pedestal and see where the drain comes out. My feeling is that there will be a conflict.

: i want to take out an old vanity and install a pedistal sink. how are they atached to the wall and or floor? oh yeah, can i use a s-trap instead of a p trap since the drain pipe goes into the floor not the wall?
