: Flange is rusted but connected to pvc so I'm not sure how to go about putting in a new flange or fixing what's there if a new one is not doable. How do remove just the metal to replac it?

If your closet flange is 4" you can get a flange that fits inside of the old flange. The flange save's time and is easy to install . It come's in PVC and has allen bolts that raises the rubber gasket and locks it into place , if you have never replaced a flange be for this is the way to go. You will find it at you local plumbing supply house , you will not find it at a hardware store. Good luck your friend the pipexpert
