Most of the time when you turn the cold water on, it is very warm, taking several minutes to get cold.....any suggestions? Somehow hot water is "getting" into the cold water side?????? : thanks Bill Kornman If your water heater is on a lower level floor it could be that you need a heat trap on the water heater cold water inlet pipe. Heat from the water heater radiates back up the cold pipe and can warm quite a length of the cold water system causing luke warm water at other cold outlets. There are fittings made to correct this called 'heat traps' that connect between the piping and the water heater or you can change the cold pipe where it connects to the water heater by adding a little pipe and a few 90 degree ells to make a 'U' shape trap configuration. This also traps the heat so it cannot travel back up the system on the cold side.Hope this helps!
