direct vent gas hot water heater

Posted by Kerr on December 30, 1999 at 08:48:16:

I simply want to know if I must purchase a direct vent gas hot water heater (in my unused crawl
space),as opposed to a regular model. The area where it will be placed is used only to store garden
equipment,etc.
When you enter from the outside door, enough room exists to stand up. The existing electric model is there
against the outer wall.Note that plenty of ventilation is down in this areadue to a nearby window and
other vents. Since regular gas models cost half what direct vent models do I hope to use one of those if
possible.Can that be done?
