Posted by Steve Tracy on November 29, 1999 at 10:30:14: Hello. I used patching cement to level a concrete floor in my basement and some of it oozed under the newly finished wall's baseplate into the basement drain. I found this a day later but, luckily, I've been able to extract some of it - just down past the drain elbow - because the water heater runoff kept the compound somewhat wet. I've been using a crank toilet snake to loosen the compound with limited success. The pipe is PVC: would some form of acid - sulfuric or muriatic - be of any help? If not, is there any hope other than tearing up the floor and replacing the pipe? Thanks!
