Jeffrey,

I just moved out of a house that was plumbed totally in PVC. I lived there since 1982. The only problem we had was with a faucet on the front wall. The pipe was exposed to sunlight and is UV sensitive. That's a big no-no. The rest of the plumbing is in the attic. That's because the house was build on a slab after the first house burned. with all plumbing in the attic and being PVC changes like adding an ice maker line, etc were very easy. Other than the exposed to sun problem it was fine.

If I were doing any new or renovation work, I would use copper supply and PVC drains. Even though I never had problems I just think copper is the better choice.

I grew up in a house with galvanized iron pipes. Those are the LAST choice.

Good luck!
