Posted by Mort Durham on August 31, 1999 at 03:59:31: I have 40 yr old house built w/cheap water pipes which have sprung leaks which I repaired by clamping. I MUST REPLACE ASAP. Is copper the best way to go? Do I need only to replace hot water piping (no leaks in cold water pipes yet)? Where can I find a good resource to tell me EXACTLY how to run lines, make connections, fittings to use (galvanized to copper). Do I need to replace every pipe under the house w/copper? If so, I think walls must be torn out. I am an excellent auto and machine tool mechanic, but have zero plumbing experience. AM WILLING TO LEARN AND NEED HELP - - SOON.
