Posted by alan on August 30, 1999 at 21:19:33: Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I noticed yesterday afternoon as my wife was showering that it was raining outside, but, in fact it was not raining. Somehow, water had tracked down the wall from the second story and onto my deck. I had recently replaced the plumbers putty around the tub drain, and repaired a pinhole leak with a fiberglass/resin boat repair kit. This was my first checkpoint (DIY job gone bad). But I found that the plumbing and drains under the tub and at shower head were dry as a bone. No water stains on ceiling down below. I tried to recreate the problem by flushing the toilet, running the shower and sink but couldn't replicate the leak. The plumbing, I guess, has a vent line at the toilet, and the toilet is the 1st fixture from the wall on a trunk line leading back to a T that collects the wastewater from both bathrooms. What the heck is going on here? I hate to leave this until next time I see the leak, but until I can recreate the problem, how do I troubleshoot this? What's the most likely source of the leak?
